Astra è un lavabo disegnato da Carlo Donati Studio di ispirazione Dèco le cui geometrie essenziali, dalle linee dinamiche e spezzate, sono la perfetta sintesi di sperimentazione stilistica e funzionalità, in equilibrio tra la raffinatezza della tradizione anni ’20 e un taglio più pulito e contemporaneo.
Forme lineari e pulite si uniscono nella creazione di un volume evocativo ma dall’immagine senza tempo che, combinata al materiale innovativo di Cemento Line, ne fa un oggetto di design che si inserisce armonicamente in qualsiasi ambiente.
Nasce come lavabo a colonna in occasione del Fuorisalone 2022 e si evolve nella versione sospesa per adattarsi ai diversi contesti.

Astra is a Déco inspired washbasin, designed by Carlo Donati Studio, whose essential geometries and dynamic lines are the perfect synthesis of stylistic experimentation and functionality, in balance between the refinement of the 1920s tradition and a cleaner and more contemporary cut.
Linear and clean shapes come together in the creation of an evocative volume with a timeless image which, combined with the innovative material of Cemento Line, makes it a design object that fits harmoniously into any environment.
Born as a pedestal sink fon the occasion of the Fuorisalone 2022 but also available in the suspended version to adapt into different contexts.

Carlo Donati Studio ha immaginato un’astrazione di una sala da bagno che fa riferimento alle caratteristiche linee geometriche dell’estetica déco.
Lo stile déco è stato reinterpretato liberamente in chiave più contemporanea secondo il gusto e la cifra stilistica dello Studio Donati.
All’impianto simmetrico dei due lavabi con vasca centrale si contrappone un fondale di quinte sfalsate costituite da linee spezzate.
I pannelli delle quinte, alternate alle pareti a specchi, giocano sull’effetto percettivo di prospettiva accelerata bramantesca dando profondità all’installazione.
Cromaticamente il moodboard è giocato sulle tinte della terracotta e del rosato in nuance che rimandano al mondo della cosmesi femminile – terre, blush, ciprie.
I due lavabi Astra, realizzati per l’occasione in Cemento Line gold, sono contraddistinti da linee taglienti dinamiche che definiscono anche la matrice delle quinte spezzate sul fondo.
Le pannellature realizzate in cemento colorato in pasta reinterpretano in chiave contemporanea l’estetica lussuosa del bagno déco.
La rubinetteria Mamoli “Euclide” in versione dorata sui due lavabi riprende la linea diagonale della composizione.
La committente della sala da bagno è Joséphine Baker, istrionica e pirotecnica show girl, prima grande celebrità nera e protagonista delle lotte per i diritti civili.
Viveva a Parigi in una casa progettata da Adolf Loos.
Iconica immagine anni ’20, entrava in scena alle Folies Bergère accompagnata da un ghepardo.

Carlo Donati Studio imagined an abstraction of a bathroom inspired by the characteristic geometric lines of the déco aesthetic.
The deco style has been freely reinterpreted in a more contemporary key according to the taste and stylistic code of Studio Donati.
The symmetrical layout of the two washbasins with central basin is contrasted by a backdrop of staggered wings made up of broken lines.
The panels, alternating with the mirrored walls, play on the perceptive effect of Bramante’s accelerated perspective, giving depth to the installation.
Chromatically, the moodboard is played on the shades of terracotta and pink in nuances that refer to the world of feminine cosmetics – blushes, powders.
The two Astra washbasins, made for the occasion in Cemento Line gold, are characterized by sharp dynamic lines that also define the matrix of the broken wings on the bottom.
The panels made of colored cement paste reinterpret the luxurious aesthetic of the déco bathroom in a contemporary key.
The golden version of the Mamoli “Euclide” taps on the two washbasins takes up the diagonal line of the composition.
The ideal client of the bathroom is Joséphine Baker, histrionic and pyrotechnic show girl, the first great black celebrity and protagonist of the struggles for civil rights.
She lived in Paris in a house designed by Adolf Loos.
Iconic 1920s image, she entered the scene at the Folies Bergère accompanied by a cheetah.
